Answers to a few of our most common questions. If you have additional questions that aren't listed below, please feel free to contact us and we would be happy to answer them for you.
+Do I have to provide an interpreter?
Outside of mandates to provide services, 1 in 5 people speak a language other than English in their home. By providing language access organizations can tap a HUGE sect of the population that is otherwise missed in the provision of monolingual services. Keep in mind we aren’t lawyers and do not provide legal advice. There are a number of rules and regulations regarding the provision of interpreters for organizations that receive Federal Funding (Medicare, Medicaid, Federal Student Loan monies, Pell Grants, etc) and employers. Please visit our Resources Page for additional information to aid in your decision making process
+How much do Interpreting services cost?
Cost varies based on language needed and location. Most requests require a 2 hour minimum for onsite services and no minimum for VRI and telephonic services. Contact us for a custom quote!
+Will interpreters interpret word for word?
Interpreting is a complex process that requires fluency in 2 languages with differing grammatical structures. A word for word interpretation would actually be undesirable as this would often violate grammatical structure of the target language… in short it wouldn’t make a ton of sense. Our interpreters are trained to provide the exact linguistic equivalent, ensuring your message is received in just the way you intended both linguistically and culturally.
+How are your interpreters screened?
Our interpreters are experienced professionals. Many hold specific certifications or degrees in their specialty. All new applicants are screened by a team of evaluators for both language proficiency and interpreting skill.
+Will my information be kept confidential?
YES! All interpreters are bound by a strict Code of Ethics that dictates the highest standards of privacy. We are also bound by HIPAA privacy laws where applicable.
